Tintawi Charaka KaIgziabiher, Awalaj, CD (CBI)
Co-founder of The Home Birth Project
Tintawi is an Awalaj (Traditional Ethiopian Birth Attendant), a Certified Doula and Reiki Master. She has studied with some of the pioneers in the field of Maternal/Infant Health. She is trained in the Rebozo technique and Mexican Midwifery, Ethiopian birth and post partum traditions and traditional midwifery. Her passion is to assist women in recognizing their inner power through the pregnancy and birth experience. She is a wife and mother of 3 children (two of which were born at home). She has attended births both in the United States and Ethiopia. Tintawi has organized community workshops to inform families about the role of midwives and doulas at homebirths. She is a advocate for homebirth (with a midwife or unassisted). She is currently studying to be a Certified Midwife. For more information or to schedule a consultation, please call 505-467-8898.
Isatu Barraka KaIgziabiher, Co-founder of The Home Birth Project
Isatu is the CEO of Iya, LLC (a natural beverage company), a husband and father of 3 children (the latter two were born at home). He is an advocate of homebirth and has coached other fathers preparing for the experience. Isatu was an active participant in the birth of his three sons; he breathed along with his wife at the birth of his first child, caught his second son himself and shared the experience with Sakina O'Uhuru, CM at the birth of his third son.
